Lithology and Thickness

The Dikzankau Fm is composed of light gray massive and coarse-bedded marbleized limestones with a thickness of 600-100.

Relationships and Distribution

Lower contact

It conformably overlies the Llandovery and Wenlock stages of the limestone

Upper contact

It is unconformably overlain by the Tournaisian - Visean volcanic rocks (Kalaikhumb Fm or Fortambek Fm).

Regional extent

It is widespread in the Daraz, Muxuy, and Karakul districts of the Northern Pamir.

Fossils

In its lower part, there are remains of early Devonian tabulates Dictyofavosites chumischensis Tchern., Pachyfavosites sp. Higher up in the section, remains of middle Devonian corals Pachyfavosiles cf. polymorphus (Goldf.), stromatoporoids Amphipora ramosa Phill., and others are noted, and in the very top part of the section - Franconian amphiporids Amphipora patokensis Riab., A. coivensis Riab. (Vlasov, 1961).
